Penrith Lottery Member Celebrates £5k New Year Jackpot Win

A long-standing lottery member from Culgaith won £5,000 when the Pride in Penrith Lottery jackpot reached it’s maximum on Wednesday 2nd January. David Witney couldn’t believe his luck when the lottery’s Marketing Manager, Georgina Stephenson, called him to tell him the good news. He said “I can’t believe it – this sort of thing doesn’t happen to me”! This summer, to celebrate the success of the lottery in the eight years since its conception, we said a huge thank you to our members with a super draw of £2,000! All of our members were entered into the draw on Thursday 16th August. Our trustees gathered round the computer to witness the draw. After a pensive wait, the special software, provided by Tower Lotteries, came up with our lucky winner, a local staff consortium who shared the £2,000. The Pride in Penrith Lottery is marking summer 2018 with a super draw of a guaranteed £2,000. All paid up members (existing and new) registered with the Lottery on Thursday 16th August will be entered on the special draw held that evening . Since the local lottery was founded in 2010, it has granted funding of well over £100k to local organisations and charities, community projects and events. This summer, we're launching two new initiatives to benefit local organisations – one to provide a Grant Funding Officer and another to pay organisations a £25 ‘Finders’ Fee’ for each new member they recruit. The Grant Funding Officer will be able to help local organisations apply for money from other funding organisations which has the benefit of increasing the skills and experience of staff or volunteers, to help organisations become more sustainable, and to assist in making applications to funders who offer larger grants. Recent Grant Recipients - how you helped In early November we attended the official opening of a fabulous new play area in Carleton Park. We were delighted to contribute just over £1,225 to Carleton Park Development Group, to help them to increase the range of play equipment for all ages from toddlers to teens, and also ensure it was accessible all year round by laying tarmac paths.
