Together we can make a difference

Lottery bats £800 over to developing Cricket Club

Date: 28th May, 2013

Grant applications are coming in thick and fast to the team at the Pride in Penrith Lottery; who has most recently awarded £800 to Culgaith Cricket Club.

The grant will help the cricket club fund essential coaching equipment for their newly structured Junior and Players section.  This will enable local junior players to benefit from a structured coaching programme which the club are certain will develop with strength season after season.

Caroline Tyson, Secretary of Culgaith Cricket Club comments:
“The grant awarded to us from the Pride in Penrith Lottery will enable us to provide the best coaching equipment for local junior cricketers to enhance a quality learning structure.  We have worked hard to establish this group and raise funds to get it off the ground.  The grant from the Lottery has been extremely beneficial to enable us do this and get up and running.”

The Pride in Penrith Lottery continues to be a very worthy cause.  As well as giving people from the local area the opportunity to win in the weekly prize draw, the money raised from subscriptions helps local initiatives and not for profit organisations raise money for projects that benefit Penrith and the surrounding area.  Since 2010, when the Lottery began they have donated over £24,000 to local good causes.

In addition to awarding grants, the Pride in Penrith Lottery also enables lucky Penrith residents to win fantastic prizes. Their most recent winner scooped £500 in a special Easter draw.  The jackpot currently stands at £2,400, with another special draw planned for Penrith’s Food and Farming Festival, to be drawn at Penrith Agricultural Show on 27th July.  The Pride in Penrith Lottery only continues to thrive with the support of its members.  It costs less than £2 a week to join the Lottery and all the money raised helps support projects and events in Penrith.  You can join online at www.prideinpenrith.co.uk or fill out an application form which can be found in local shops and through the sales agents (Maggie’s Bakery, The Wine House of Penrith, Booths, Angel Lane Chippy, Sandgate Friary and Town Head Chip shop.
