Together we can make a difference

Lottery offers £500 prize - and a job!

Date: 24th April, 2014

There's a chance to get the summer off to a fantastic start with £500 to be won in the Pride in Penrith Lottery’s May Day draw.

There’s just time to join the lottery before the draw on Wednesday 7 May. It costs just £2 a month to be a member, and the proceeds provide grants to help local clubs, projects and organisations.

The May Day special draw is one of four held throughout the year, giving members extra chances to win on top of the lottery’s main weekly draw, which has a jackpot of up to £5,000. The most recent special draw marked Mother’s Day in March. One lucky lottery member, who has chosen to remain anonymous, has been celebrating after scooping the £500 prize.

For the lottery’s coordinator Helen Sanderson it’s also likely to be her last special draw as she’s moving onwards and upwards, opening up a jackpot job for a lucky applicant.

“We really enjoy the special draws because we get the chance to break lovely news to one of our members and reward them for supporting the lottery,” said Rob Udale, chairman of the lottery, “but we’ll be sad that it will also be last time that Helen runs the special draw for us. We’d love to hear from anyone with the skills and enthusiasm to fill Helen’s very big shoes.”

The administrator/secretary to the board looks after all the behind-the-scenes work of the lottery. It's a super opportunity for the right person to help manage the lottery efficiently and be part of an enthusiastic team, helping the local community.

"We need someone who's highly organised and computer literate, with great administrative skills," Rob said. "The role offers great flexibility, as you'd be working for yourself, from home. It involves about 15 to 20 hours' work each month."

The salary for the role is £10 an hour and applicants must be available to work on Wednesdays, when the lottery's weekly draw takes place.
